Department of Conservative dentistry & Endodontics conducted a 2-day workshop on VDW rotary file system and Indirect Veneers on the 14th & 15th of July, 2026. The resource person for the event was Dr. Arun Jayasheel, Professor at Bapuji Dental College, Davangere. Chairperson was Dr. Madhu Pujar and Organizing secretary was Dr. Sameer Sait. Total number of delegates registered were 52 which included post-graduate students, staff & private practitioners.
The program commenced with the anchors Dr. Aishwarya & Dr. Pratibha – post-graduate students of the department, invited all the dignitaries to the stage. The program began with inaugural ceremony with lighting of the lamp and a welcome speech and introduction of the speaker by Dr. Sameer Sait. Dr. Pallavi Gopeshetti delivered the vote of thanks.
The 1st day of the program included a lecture on VDW rotary files followed by lunch & hands-on workshop. The 2nd day was on Indirect Veneers which included lecture and hands-on workshop on typhodont models.
All the participants were given hands-on kits which included VDW rotary files and burs for veneer preparation. The CDE program concluded in the evening with the photo session.
The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, in association with the DDE Cell under the IQAC initiative, successfully conducted a hands-on workshop on “Precision Through Imaging: Advancing Dental Care with CBCT” on 6th July 2026, from 9:30 AM at the Institute Auditorium.
The workshop featured an expert session by Dr. Kuhu Majumdar, Dentist, Maxillofacial Radiologist, and Asia Pacific Product Manager at Carestream, followed by practical hands-on training on CBCT imaging. Mr. Ravichandra, Carestream representative, was also present.
Organized under the guidance of Dr. Praveena Tantradi, Head of the Department, with the support of Dr. Sujata Byahatti and Dr. Prachi Katti, the workshop witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 106 faculty members and postgraduate students. Accredited with 6 credit points by the Karnataka State Dental Council, the program strengthened participants’ knowledge of advanced imaging techniques for precise diagnosis and enhanced patient care.
The Prosthetic Module of the Basic Implantology Course was successfully held from 12th–14th June 2026 in collaboration with Osstem India Pvt. Ltd.
The three-day program brought together 20 postgraduate students from the Departments of Prosthodontics and Periodontology and was mentored by Dr. Santosh Dixit (Pune). Participants gained valuable insights into Stage II implant surgery, prosthetic implant components, implant impression techniques, implant occlusion, treatment planning, and clinical management, along with hands-on demonstrations and supervised patient training.
The program concluded with the distribution of completion certificates and was organized under the leadership of Principal Dr. Preethi Kusugal, Dr. Ajaykumar Nayak (In-Charge Department of Implantology), Dr. Sandeep Katti Dr Sandeep Katti (Implant Incharge, Department of Periodontology), and Dr. Vivek Govekar.
The Department of Prosthodontics & Crown and Bridge, Maratha Mandal’s Nathagirao G Halgekar Institute of Dental Sciences and Research Centre, Belagavi in association with Indian Prosthodontic Society, Karnataka State Branch successfully conducted a two-day Value Added Programme on Full Mouth Rehabilitation on 8th and 9th January 2026. The event commenced with a formal inaugural function that was graced by the presence of distinguished guests Dr. Anand Patil, President, Indian Prosthodontic Society, Karnataka Branch, Dr. Sunil Dhaded, Past Immediate President, Indian Prosthodontic Society, Karnataka Branch and Dr. Ramesh Nayakar, EC Member, Indian Prosthodontic Society. The guests were welcomed by Dr Ramakant Nayak, Principal and Dr Hallikerimath.R.B, Professor, Dept. of Prosthodontics & Crown & Bridge. The course witnessed active participation from a total of 70 delegates comprising of private practioners and post graduate students of various parts of Karnataka and Maharashtra. The first day of the program focused on establishing a strong theoretical and clinical foundation in Full Mouth Rehabilitation. The lecture sessions on Day 1 were comprised of fundamental principles, scope, and philosophy of FMR, with emphasis on occlusal concepts, assessment of vertical dimension, diagnosis, treatment planning, and sequencing of therapy. The lecture sessions were followed by a detailed clinical demonstration, during which participants were able to observe the practical application of the concepts discussed. On Day 2 course was dedicated to digital technology in FMR and implants, case discussion and QA sessions. Dr. Preethi Kusugal, Organizing Chairperson and Dr. Zarir Ruttonji, Organizing Secretary provided overall guidance for the successful planning and execution of the program. Dr. Abhijit Patil, Reader, Dr. Chithra Melavanki, Lecturer and Dr. Somesh Pattanshetti, Lecturer, Department of Prosthodontics actively mentored the postgraduate students throughout the event, ensuring effective coordination, continuous academic support, and the smooth conduct of all sessions.
