16-06-2026 Seed Ball 2026
SEEDBALL MAKING
The NSS Unit organized a Seed Ball Making event on 16th June 2026 in the college campus to promote environmental conservation and create awareness about afforestation. The programme was inaugurated by the In-charge Principal, Dr. Preethi Kusugal. A seed ball is a small ball made from a mixture of mud, ash, and native plant seeds. It is an eco-friendly method of afforestation that protects the seeds until they germinate under suitable environmental conditions. The event was coordinated by Dr. Zarir Ruttonji, NSS Wing In-charge. Students enthusiastically participated in preparing seed balls. More than 500 seed balls were prepared during the activity. These seed balls will be dispersed in dry land areas, where they can germinate naturally with the onset of rains, helping to increase green cover and restore the ecosystem. The NSS volunteer team comprising Dr. Pallavi Gopishetti, Dr. Ramya Pai, Dr. Vivek Govekar, and Dr. Shweta Gaikwad actively assisted in organizing and conducting the programme. The activity encouraged environmental responsibility, teamwork, and community service among the participants.

VAN MAHOTSAV WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2026
The NSS wing of the institution in association with the Department of Public Health Dentistry organized Van Mahotsav on 6thJune 2026 as a part of World Environment Day2026 under the theme One Sapling for One Student at the Belgaum Public School, Shindoli from 9.15am onwards. A total of 30 saplings were planted in the campus of the school. The event was organized to promote environmental awareness and contribute to the green cover of the region. The event, aimed at fostering a sense of responsibility towards nature among students of the institution Dr Zarir Ruttonji, NSS wing Incharge of the institution coordinated the event. Members of the NSS wing Dr Pallavi G Dr Ramya Pai , Dr Rekha , Dr Vivek G, and Dr Shewta G contributed to the success of the event. Students participated actively in planting the saplings. Dr Rajshree Nagaraju, President Maratha Mandal Group of Institution Belagavi encourages environmental awareness programs. Dr Preethi Kusugal, Incharge Principal, Maratha Mandal’s NGHIDS & RC provided unconditional support towards the event. The event was a IQAC initiative. A total of 11 students participated in the event.

Taru Nirmiti Abhiyaan.. Seed Ball Dispersal Event 2025.
“Forests are the lungs of Mother Nature; death of forests is the end of our life”. The student volunteers of NSS wing of Maratha Mandal’s NGH institute of Dental Sciences and Research Center took up an initiative called “ Taru Nirmiti Abhiyaan” – A seed ball initiative, which aims to replenish the green belts lost due to deforestation. Our student volunteers enthusiastically participated by making around 700 seed balls in month of September-October 2025. Each ball consists of different varieties of seeds mixed with soil, ash/neem powder and cow dung powder. On 4th of October 2025, these seed balls were thrown in Khanapur stretch, where they will germinate and grow to form trees. A total of 21 student volunteers along with NSS committee members Dr Zarir Ruttonji ( Incharge NSS wing), Dr Pallavi G , Dr Ramya Pai, , Dr Shewta took part in the event. This initiative was inspired and guided by Dr Rajshree Nagaraju (President, Maratha Mandal Group), Dr Ramakant Nayak (Principal) and Dr Preethi Kusugal (Vice Principal). A total of 21 students participated in the event.

SEEDBALL MAKING AT KLE INTERNATION SCHOOL BELGAVI
The NSS wing of Maratha Mandal's Nathajirao G. Halgekar Institute of Dental Sciences & Research Centre conducted a Seed Ball Making activity for the students of KLE International School Belagavi on 6th June 2025 as part of its environmental awareness initiatives. The event aimed to instil eco-consciousness among school children by teaching them simple yet effective methods to contribute to afforestation. Dr. Ramya Pai, NSS member, demonstrated the process of seed ball preparation using clay, compost, and native plant seeds. Her hands-on session was met with enthusiasm and curiosity from the students. Under the guidance of NSS Incharge Dr. Zarir Ruttonji and with support from Dr.Pallavi Gopishetti, the NSS volunteers along with students of our institute helped students prepare their own seed balls and explained how they can be used to green barren areas. The activity encouraged environmental responsibility and practical learning among the students. It was well-received by the school authorities and highlighted the NSS wing’s commitment to sustainability and community engagement. The students showed great interest and actively participated in the activity, enjoying the hands-on experience of connecting with nature. The importance of seed dispersal, native plant growth, and the role of seed balls in reforestation was explained in a simple and engaging manner. Teachers and staff of KLE International School appreciated the initiative and commended the NSS team for their effort in promoting environmental education at the school level. 18-03-2025 Cyber Prevention
CYBER CRIME PREVENTION LECTURE
The NSS wing of the institution organized a lecture on Cyber Crime Prevention for the students of Maratha Mandal’s NGHIDS & RC Belagavi on 18th March 2025 in the college auditorium. The event aimed to raise awareness among students about the growing threat of cybercrime and provide practical guidance on how to protect themselves online. The session covered various topics, including types of cybercrimes such as phishing, identity theft, and ransomware, along with the importance of cyber security measures like strong passwords and two-factor authentication. Students were also introduced to Indian cyber laws and best practices for online safety. The lecture was highly interactive, with students engaging in discussions about real-life cybercrime cases and seeking advice on securing their personal data. The students showed a keen interest in the topic, with many requesting further resources on cyber security. The lecture was delivered by Mrs Anita Bommannavar ASI, Cyber Crime cell and Mr Yadav. 09-03-2025 Karnataka state polic run
KARANTAK STATE POLICE RUN
On 9th March 2025, students from Maratha Mandal's NGHIDS $ RC Belagavi participated in the Karnataka State Police Run Marathon at Cped ground Belagavi, showcasing their commitment to fitness and community engagement. The event attracted participants from various institutions across the district. The students actively took part in 5K category, demonstrating excellent physical endurance and enthusiasm. Their participation in this prestigious marathon not only highlighted their athletic skills but also emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Throughout the event, students exhibited strong sportsmanship and team spirit, garnering appreciation from the organizers and fellow participants. Their involvement also reflected the educational institution's dedication to promoting overall student development, including physical fitness and social responsibility. The event was organized as awareness toward a “DRUG” free state by the Karnataka State Police Department. Dr Preethi Kusugal, Vice Principal , Dr Zarir Ruttonji and Dr Ramya Pai members of the SESREC cell of our institution co ordinate the event. A total of 10 students and 2 staff members took part in the event. Dr Rajshree Nagaraju , President Maratha Mandal Group of Institution and Dr Ramakant Nayak Principal congratulated the students on successful completing the run. SHARING IS CARING EVENT
The Institution undertakes various social activities throughout the year, of which SHARING is CARING is an event that is organized every year at home for children affected with HIV/AIDS( KIAAN). The NSS unit of the institution organized SHARING IS CARING this year on 08rd February 2025. Household items like homecare products, laundry products and toiletry products were donated by the undergraduate, post graduate students and the staff of the institution. The material donated is ample and sufficient for an entire year for the home. Mr Nagaraju Yadav, Member of Legislative council and Maratha Mandal Trust Board member also visited the school and interacted with the children, Principal Dr Ramakant Nayak was also present. President Dr Rajshree Nagaraju Maratha Mandal Group of Institution has always encouraged such social activities which bring a huge difference for these children suffering from HIV/AIDS. It also helps the students of the institution to take up more such social activities which can lead to a small change in the society. Miss Shifa Noorahmed Gadi , Mr Yash Godhe (Intern) and Miss Jennifer Wilson Bardeskar (Co Gen Secretary) helped in purchasing the materials needed for the event. 14-12-2024 Prakruti Parikshan Event
PRAKRUTI PARIKSHAN
On 14th December 2024, the NSS Wing of our intuition organized the "Prakruti Parikshan" event to help students and faculty members to assess their life style, diet and seasonal regime. The event is ainitiative by Ministry of Ayush ( Govt of India) along with NCISM New Delhi. During the event students and staff members were asked to download the app PRAKRUTI on their respective mobiles. Dr AzizahmedArbar, Professor and Head Department of Kaumarabhritya , KAHER, Shri BMK Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya Belagavi along with his team of undergraduate and post graduate student conducted the event. During the event the students, faculty members had to register on the app and take up a detailed survey in the app which would help them understand their body type this survey will also help the individuals to modify their diet and lifestyle for a better and healthy life. SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN ON OCCASION OF GANDHI JAYANTI AND LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI JAYANTI
The NSS wing of the institution celebrated Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri jayanti on 2nd October 2024 in the college auditorium. The event began with the digintaires evoking the blessings of the Mahatma Gandhi ji and Lal Bahadur Shastri ji. Miss Sneha Suryavanshi (Intern) spoke of the contributions done by the two great leaders towards India. This year as a mark of respect sanitations workers were felicitated who are instrumental in keep the surroundings clean and are the true flag bearers of Swaach Baharat Abhiyan. 6 sanitation workers namely, Mr Richard Marihal, Mr Avinash Bhosale , Mr Sandep K, Mr Avinash K, Mr Praveen and Mr Rama Kolkar were felicitated by Dr Ramakant Nayak, Principal , Dr Preethi Kusugal, Vice Principal, Dr Pushpa P, Administrative Incharge, Dr V Uppin Academic Incharge, Dr Vijayalakshmi K, IQAC cell Incharge and Dr Zarir Ruttonji, NSS wing Incharge. INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 2024
The NSS wing of the institution in association with Dept of Periodontology and IQAC cell of the institution organized a Yoga session for the staff and students of the Institution on the occasion of International Yoga Day on 21st June 2024 in the college campus. Dr Sheetal Sanikop, Professor Dept of Periodontology and a Certified Yoga Trainer was the facilitator for the event. Dr Sai Chandini, Dept of Periodontics introduced Dr Sheetal Sanikop. The event began with a brief lecture by Dr Sheetal Sanikop in which she spoke on the importance of practicing yoga in day to day life the lecture was followed by a Yoga session for all. Various supine asanas, prone asana, sitting asanas, standing asanas and pranyama were performed by the Student and Staff members under the supervision of Dr Sheetal Sanikop. E WASTE AWARENESS PROGRAM
The NSS wing of the college in association with Titan Company Limited and IQAC cell of the institution organized an “E Waste Awareness Program” on 7th June 2024 in the college auditorium. Mr Nayan Momaya , Regional Training Manager /TW/ South 2 Titan Company Limited was the Speaker for the event. The event was inaugurated by Dr Preethi Kusugal, Vice Principal, Maratha Mandal’s NGHIDS & RC Belgaum who also welcomed the Guest Speaker with a sapling. Mr Nayan Momaya spoke on the various problems faced due to E waste accumulation and how can we as citizen can help in the reduction of this waste. Students and Staff members of the institution attended the event. Dr Zarir Ruttonji, NSS wing Incharge of the institution and Dr Ramya Pai co ordinate the event. A titan service centre was also established in the college premises so that the staff and Students could take advantage of the same. A total of 62 students participated in the event
