Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, covering an area of 5000 sq.ft. area is situated on the first floor .It is divided into undergraduate & Postgraduate sections. The department includes the lab ,sterilization room, record Room and storeroom. There is also a seminar room, PG study room and separate Photography section.
Facilities :
- Undergraduate sections comprises of fully equipped dental units with light cure units and ultrasonic scalers
- Sterilization section has an autoclave ,glass bead sterilizer and boiling unit
- Lab is well equipped, the equipment includes welding units, biostar, hydro-solder ,lab micro motors, double disc model trimmers and dental lathe
- The department has one of the best cephalometric tracing software for better diagnosis and treatment planning.
B.D.S. Curriculum
The undergraduate are made to acquaint themselves with basic principles of orthodontic diagnosis and treatment of simple malocclusions with removable appliances and demonstrations of various fixed appliances techniques. The theory ,practical & clinical training in orthodontics is undertaken in the 3,4 year of BDS
MDS Curriculum
With the intake of 3 pgs every year, every post graduate is well trained by the entire faculty in all types of functional and fixed orthodontic procedures.
Types of work done :
- Removable and fixed orthodontic treatment-Correction of crowded and misaligned teeth.
- Functional jaw orthodontics-Redirects the growth in growing children to prevent occurrence of major malocclusions at a later date.
- Functional jaw orthodontics for disturbances like TMJ dysfunction.
- Preventive & interceptive Orthodontics.
Special Interest and achievements :
The treatment is carried by highly qualified faculty. The department has a record of 400+ fixed orthodontic patients undergoing treatment. We do undertake surgical Orthodontic Cleft lip And cleft palate case
