Pediatric Dentistry is an age defined specialty that provides both primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special health care needs.The department has well qualified and experienced teaching staff and most of the latest materials and equipments to look after the comprehensive and oral health care needs of infants, children and adolescents. Every child has a fundamental right to his/her total oral health and we have an obligation to fulfill this faith. We also provide all types of dental treatment to children with special health care needs.
Pediatic Dentistry mainly focuses on preventive aspect, so as we carry out Flouride application, Pit & Fissure sealeants, Diet counseling etc in our department. Some of the treatment procedures carried out in department: Oral Prophylaxis, Fluoride application, Pulpotomy, Puppectomy, Apexification, Apexogenesis, Stainless stell crown, Strip crowns, Space maintainers, Root canal treatment, Cast crowns, Interceptive Orthodontic appliances, Minor oral surgical procedures etc.
Children come from diverse background with different behaviors, we provide complete oral health care to all children exhibiting different behavior using behavior guidance techniques. Uncooperative children are treated under sedation of General Anesthesia in our department.
It is important to highlight that our department conducts regularly school dental health programme and we provide treatment to these school children in our dept.
On an average the department treats around 45 patients per day.
