On 30th June 2026, Maratha Mandal’s N.G. Halgekar Institute of Dental Sciences & Research Centre observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking by organizing an awareness programme to educate students on the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of leading a healthy, drug-free life.
As part of the initiative, I & II BDS students participated in an online awareness session held in Bengaluru, where they gained valuable insights into the harmful effects of drug abuse, its physical, mental, social, and legal consequences, as well as prevention and rehabilitation strategies. The session also highlighted the crucial role of future healthcare professionals in spreading awareness and supporting a drug-free society.
A key highlight of the programme was the Anti-Drug Pledge, administered by Dr. Preethi Kusugal, Principal, reaffirming the students’ commitment to stay drug-free, uphold professional ethics, and contribute to building a healthier and safer community.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Zarir Ruttonji.

A code of conduct program was organised by committee in-charge Dr. Pushpa S.P, on 8/4/26, in the college auditorium to reinforce institutional discipline, professional ethics and workplace expectation among staff members.
The session for teaching staff commenced at 9:30 AM and for non-teaching staff at 10:30 AM.
Dr. Chetan Patil addressed the teaching staff, emphasising the importance of maintaining academic integrity, professional behaviour in the classrooms, and adherence to institutional policy policies and fostering a respectful and productive learning environment.He highlighted responsibilities related to students.
Dr. Abhijeet conducted the session for the non-teaching staff in the vernacular language, ensuring better understanding and also explained about workplace discipline, teamwork and maintaining professionalism in day-to-day work.
Both sessions included the explanation of the rules and regulations of institution.Special attention was given to disciplinary measures and grievance handling procedures.
The event was concluded by Dr. Preeti Kusugal with reminder to all staff members to uphold the values of the institution and maintain professionalism and contribute positive disciplined work environment.
