Lasers in Dentistry Course is designed specifically for Dental interns of our Institute to introduce them to the fundamentals of laser technology in dentistry. This hands-on course provides interns with essential knowledge about the different types of lasers used in dental practice, their clinical applications, and the safety protocols required when working with laser devices. Through a combination of theoretical learning and practical sessions, interns will gain the skills necessary to perform basic laser procedures in soft tissue treatments. This course aims to enhance the quality of patient care by integrating advanced laser techniques into everyday dental practice.
Gain a comprehensive understanding of the physics and principles of laser technology, including light, wavelength, and laser-tissue interactions.
Understand the various types of lasers used in dentistry, such as diode lasers, CO2 lasers, and erbium lasers, and their specific applications
Learn to identify appropriate clinical indications for laser use in different dental procedures, as well as when laser use may be contraindicated.
Develop knowledge of safety guidelines, both for the practitioner and the patient, when using dental lasers
Gain practical experience in using dental lasers for soft tissue procedures through hands-on practice in a controlled environment
Understand how dental lasers can improve patient outcomes, reduce healing times, and enhance comfort during dental treatments
Basic principles of laser physics, types of lasers used in dentistry, and their clinical relevance
How lasers interact with soft and hard tissues to achieve desired outcomes.
Use of lasers in soft tissue procedures (e.g., gingival contouring, frenectomy, PDT, PBM)
Protocols for ensuring safety for both the patient and clinician, including protective equipment and proper laser handling.
Practical sessions with various lasers for real-world application.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Make informed decisions about which type of
laser to use for various dental procedures based on clinical needs and laser characteristics.
